INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE ANALYSIS: "A man should never neglect his family for business" – Walt Disney

"A man should never neglect his family for business."

 – Walt Disney

Walter Elias "Walt" Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, well known for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. Alongside his brother Roy Disney he is the founder of The Walt Disney Company commonly referred to as Disney, an American diversified multinational mass media corporation headquartered in Walt Disney Studios, Burbank, California, United States. It is the largest media conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue and today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood.

During his lifetime he received four honorary Academy Awards and won 22 Academy Awards from a total of 59 nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual in history. Disney also won seven Emmy Awards and gave his name to the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the U.S., as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

As a father of 2 daughters Diane Disney (now known as Diane Disney Miller) and Sharon Mae Disney (now known as Sharon Roberts) he never copromised his time with his family despite his immense success he stayed grounded and it reflects this in his quote.

Let's analyse this quote and break it down...

"A man should never neglect his family for business."

As it's a male who is saying this he is referring to his gender rather than to an individual - yes I know you may be confused but we're going somewhere with this..... when we say "we are in no mans land" it means we are in a land that belongs to nobody, there is no reference to gender but in this quote, Walt is referring to "man" as the gender and the head of the home.

This quote conveys authority, and leadership as a breadwinner and the main provider. However the use of the word "neglect" shows a softer side and ownership using the word "his" as he refers to his family.

It's not a literature lesson guys, however this quote is to show you that even the most successful believe in the importance of a good work-life balance.

We always strive to be the best at what we do, climb the ladder, and aim to higher heights in our career. But we also most realise the importance of family, and more importantly that personal time you spend with YOURSELF!

Health before Wealth is the same as Work Hard and Play Hard (in some cases harder lol) ... Whatever you consider as Play.... whether it's catching up with your friends on a night out or curled in bed with a book; make time out for YOU.

Then also make time out for your family - It's amazing how time flies and what seems like yesterday is actually days, months, and sometimes even years ago. Don't miss out on creating memories because your so engrossed in your career.

After all when the curtains close your family will miss you but your job will go on. If successful men make it a priority why can't you?

It's a food for thought.... Meditate.... Implement... and Live!
