Personal Development - Why is it Neccessary?

The word person refers to an individual, when it becomes personal it turns into an object, or/and an intangible character that is associated with that individual.

Today, let's talk about personal development because it's an essential part of our formation. What do we mean by Personal Development I hear you ask?

Personal development can be looked at in the perspective on your personal attributes and characteristics and also from the aspect of your career.

Your characteristics, beliefs and attributes define you, this is what differentiates you from someone else. Some of these components can be an added advantage as well as it can be your greatest set-back. So how do  you define which ones are positive and which ones are negative?

The thing is there is no real answer to this because it can only be analysed on a case by case basis however they are key characteristics that no matter the situation it will work in your favour some of them are:
  • Kindness
  • Humility
  • Organised
  • Diplomatic
When dealing with people in various capacities these qualities are essential whether it's your interacting with fellow colleagues at work or family and friends.

Why is it necessary to focus on Personal Development?

With our ever changing society, as individuals we need to develop ourselves to ensure we remain relevant in our industries. This can include:
  • Broadening your knowledge base with new technologies and news in your sector
  • Take an additional course in relation to the work you are doing in your current role
  • Volunteer in an establishment to gain experience which will be valuable to your CV
Even if your not currently employed, this is the time to use to further your knowledge by reading articles, taking short courses, and even volunteering in an organisation to gain experience; Experience is invaluable and relevant because it adds to your personal and career development.

When potential employers look at your CV, they will not concentrate so much on the fact that you are unemployed. What they would be more interested in is what you did in that period of time to develop yourself further.

It demonstrates the unspoken attributes you have, and determines whether you are able to conform into the working class culture.

We all aim to be better and regardless of our age and the stage we have attained to in life, we always learn something new as long as the earth continues to rotate.

Aim to be better than you were yesterday by doing something or learning something which makes you more knowledgeable than you were yesterday.

"With Age, and experience comes wisdom, with knowledge comes Wealth"

October to November: The 10th month of the year - 10 steps to ensure your ready for the 11th Step

1. Organise

When you plan your week, make it a point to schedule time with your family and friends, and activities that help you recharge. If a date night with your spouse or an day out with friends is on your calendar, you'll have something to look forward to and an extra incentive to manage your time well so you don't have to cancel.

2. Document everything!

Keep a diary on hand to see your schedule at a glance and check your workload early each day so you have an idea of what you have to achieve - this should allow you to realistically timetable tasks and a to-do list can help you add structure. Ticking off completed tasks will bring with it a sense of achievement and a wall chart is indispensable for planning much-deserved holidays.

3. Learn to switch off

Today it is physically possible to work around the clock. The rise of mobile internet and the ‘anywhere-working’ culture means it's sometimes hard to switch off. This, coupled with the globalisation of the business world, means that working traditional nine to five days is not always practical.

For this reason, it is often hard to find time where work is not at the forefront of your mind. Make sure you spend some time each day away from your phone and email. Turn the Wi-Fi off on your smartphone, close your laptop, and don’t feel guilty about it.

4. Set yourself a cut-off point

A recent report by the online data back-up service Mozy suggests that Brits now typically start work at 7:17am and finish at 7:02pm - but in reality we are rarely offline. It’s wise to set yourself a cut-off point to make a clear distinction between time dedicated to personal and professional pursuits - particularly if you work flexibly or remotely.

It may be tempting to finish a report or put together a presentation but by failing to set a clear benchmark you could easily end up working until late in the evening or beyond. If you do this repeatedly it will not be long until you are feeling frazzled. Make a rule to stop working after a certain time and stick to it.

5. Learn to relax

Whether it be yoga, baking, painting or even playing computer games, spend some time doing something which requires singular focus and allows you to zone out. Studies have shown that regular relaxation reduces stress, helps eliminate insomnia and decreases the chances of developing certain health conditions so you owe it to yourself to set aside time to relax.

According to the ONS, the average worker spends 5 weeks a year commuting - use this time to listen to music or an audio book if you drive to work, or read if you travel by train to decompress after your day.

6. Make the most of your free time

It can sometimes feel like Groundhog Day when the working week becomes a continuous cycle of work and home. But by making an effort to break this rhythm your days can become much more fulfilling. Get out and about in your lunch hour – even if it’s just a brisk walk around the local park. The fresh air is good for your body, the change of scenery is good for the mind and light exercise releases endorphins which will help your performance in the afternoon. Mixing with a wide group of people is a great way to switch off. Likewise, it’s essential that you make the most of your annual leave. Well rested staff result in greater efficiency in the workplace and the experiences that you acquire while out and about can add value to your career. Stepping away from work for longer than a day or two allows you to put things in perspective. You will return fresh, full of ideas and raring to go.

7. Interact

It may be tempting to curl up in front of the TV in the evenings while checking Facebook on your phone, but lack of human contact can be depressing. Arrange to meet with friends - if only for an hour after work, or join a class or group.

8.  Be Aware - Identify opportunities in the making

The finest detail can make all the difference, see things in the bigger picture and beyond the common perspective. How do I do that? I hear you say... by looking at objects, people, places and things outside what they are supposed to do or be

For example: You have a favourite restaurant that you frequent with your friends, you love the service, the food and even the ambiance. So speaking with the restaurant owner why not organise a profitable food tasting event for those who are not regulars, why not host aa network event there to build contacts and also to generate  income in partnership with the restaurant

9. Brand yourself!

There's nothing more effective then being a walking promotion. How you conduct yourself, and the service you deliver speaks a lot about you as an individual. Never over promise, it is better to set a realistic or even a lower realistic target then exceed your client's expectations.

This can work both professionally and personally.

Even with friends and family if you honour an invitation for a house warming and they requirement is bring a bottle or beverage of some sort you can make a snack and bring along too. You have not committed yourself by letting the celebrant know your intention but as you arrive with the snack you have exceeded their expectation.

10. Refer! Refer! Refer!

Some people do not actually understand the power of a referral as the referee and not the benefactor. But let us break it down for you.

As someone who is known as a reputable person you will be asked to refer fellow reputable people. Now if those people do their job successfully they will get recognition but so will YOU!

That client will feel indebted to you for putting them in touch with someone of an excellent skill set and will find their won way to repay the favour.

11. Forge Ahead!

There is no doubt that managing personal and professional responsibilities is a balancing act but remember you work to live – not live to work. Professional success is not possible without hard work and dedication, but investing time in your personal life will arm you with the drive required to climb the career ladder.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR WOMEN - by Tony Eboh

International Day for Women is unlike any other day set aside to mark historic events or raise consciousness over pertinent issues, this day is unique for what it represents for humanity.

Females remain an endangered species in many parts of the world. A combination of cultural, religious and societal norms and practices have continued to stifle and limit the growth and development of girls. Additionally, the inaction by several Governments and the outright negligence of several issues concerning girls has further complicated issues. Young girls are continuously subjected to dehumanizing conditions in several climes and this day presents an opportunity to chart a new course.

There are several reasons why every society must endeavour to educate, enlighten and empower the girls. The most important reason is simply because it is the right thing to do. It is morally, logically and politically right to do so. An educated girl is a beacon of hope and a primary source of social stability. We must never forget the obvious fact that families form the bedrock of societies and if the builders themselves are ill-equipped to execute the demands of nursing and nurturing, we are headed towards a broken system.

Failure to cater to the needs of girls is a deliberate attempt to stagnate the progress of over half the population of any society. Women make up about 52 % of the global population and these figures cut across several countries. One of the major differences between developed and developing nations is the capacity of well educated and exposed women to contribute to the workforce and society in the former but sadly missing in the latter. You can’t shut out a majority of the people and expect to make meaningful progress.

An investment in females is a superb and risk free investment. All societies that have summoned courage and put their faith towards this noble objective are far better off. At a time when the men and their economic policies have plunged the world into disarray, the women have stepped up. Angela Merkel (German Chancellor) has stopped the slide in Europe and the continent is better off than it was a few years. Christine Lagarde is leading the IMF with panache and prudence. President Obama recently nominated Janet Yellen as Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank. That makes her the most powerful woman in the world at least as far as economic matters are concerned. Hillary Clinton ( Former Secretary of State), Janet Napolitano ( Former Homeland Security Chief) and Susan Rice ( National Security Adviser) have driven policies in a male dominated field that have made America safer and less despised compared to when the men held sway.

In Africa, Presidents Banda and Sirleaf-Johnson continue to grow the economies of their respective countries. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is an astute economist and her credentials are impeccable. She hasn’t been as effective in her second coming because she has practiced more politics instead of people focused economic policies. Nevertheless, no one can question her ability to do the job.

Dilma Rousseff has continued the good legacies of her predecessor in Brazil and her steady leadership has ensured that her country has overtaken the United Kingdom in some economic indices and in the process further cementing Brazil’s position as a true emerging power. Christina Fernandez de Kirchner has overseen massive economic growth and political stability in Argentina. She has put her country in the forefront of South American politics and Argentina is on the path of greatness again after years of corruption and poor governance.

We can all make our societies better by ensuring we tackle the evils affecting females in our own little way. Some of these include Genital mutilation, Child Marriage, Lack of Diligent Prosecution of Rape cases and lack of focus on peculiar feminine issues.

Let’s all stand firm against inhumanity against girls. No girl should be allowed to become a mother whilst she is still a child. No man should have peace after defiling a girl and the authorities should make special provisions for girls as they mature into womanhood. It’s a complicated process that makes or mars a woman’s future.

Let’s celebrate the girls today and make commitments to ensure that they grow up to become what they can be: mothers, champions and leaders.

INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE ANALYSIS: "A man should never neglect his family for business" – Walt Disney

"A man should never neglect his family for business."

 – Walt Disney

Walter Elias "Walt" Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, well known for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. Alongside his brother Roy Disney he is the founder of The Walt Disney Company commonly referred to as Disney, an American diversified multinational mass media corporation headquartered in Walt Disney Studios, Burbank, California, United States. It is the largest media conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue and today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood.

During his lifetime he received four honorary Academy Awards and won 22 Academy Awards from a total of 59 nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual in history. Disney also won seven Emmy Awards and gave his name to the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the U.S., as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

As a father of 2 daughters Diane Disney (now known as Diane Disney Miller) and Sharon Mae Disney (now known as Sharon Roberts) he never copromised his time with his family despite his immense success he stayed grounded and it reflects this in his quote.

Let's analyse this quote and break it down...

"A man should never neglect his family for business."

As it's a male who is saying this he is referring to his gender rather than to an individual - yes I know you may be confused but we're going somewhere with this..... when we say "we are in no mans land" it means we are in a land that belongs to nobody, there is no reference to gender but in this quote, Walt is referring to "man" as the gender and the head of the home.

This quote conveys authority, and leadership as a breadwinner and the main provider. However the use of the word "neglect" shows a softer side and ownership using the word "his" as he refers to his family.

It's not a literature lesson guys, however this quote is to show you that even the most successful believe in the importance of a good work-life balance.

We always strive to be the best at what we do, climb the ladder, and aim to higher heights in our career. But we also most realise the importance of family, and more importantly that personal time you spend with YOURSELF!

Health before Wealth is the same as Work Hard and Play Hard (in some cases harder lol) ... Whatever you consider as Play.... whether it's catching up with your friends on a night out or curled in bed with a book; make time out for YOU.

Then also make time out for your family - It's amazing how time flies and what seems like yesterday is actually days, months, and sometimes even years ago. Don't miss out on creating memories because your so engrossed in your career.

After all when the curtains close your family will miss you but your job will go on. If successful men make it a priority why can't you?

It's a food for thought.... Meditate.... Implement... and Live!

Grab the Wheel and Drive to your own Destinyation

We're almost reaching the beginning of a new month and the end of the 1st quarter of the year, i'm sure your wondering why so many words to summarise that we're going into a new month in a week? lol  it will all makes sense shortly because there is always a meaning too everything we do. TRUST US!

The beginning of everything in life can either be exciting, or nerve-racking, think about it! First day at school, First day in a new office, First Date, etc. you either experience one of the emotions or even both. At the beginning of the year we posted an article called "New Year, New YOU!" we spoke about all the things one should do to make a conscience decision about your goals and stick to it. In a month or so we'll  be approaching the END of the first quarter of the year, how many of you can say you've have stuck to the original game plan? Be totally honest with yourselves.

The statement above is a really powerful one:

"The Difference Between Who YOU are
and what YOU want to be
 is what YOU Do"

This statement is all about YOU, it is not the difference between you and someone else, there is no comparison between two parties. The comparison is between the stage you are at currently, your aspirations for the future, and exactly what it is your doing to get there.

Sometimes don't realise that we limit our own ability in words, thoughts, and actions. Allowing fear, doubt, and negativity cloud our vision by using words such as can't, and won't. Who says you can't achieve your goals? Who said you cannot be what you want to be? The truth is you hold the keys to your own destiny.

The world we live in is driven by being politically correct, socio-economic statuses, various culture and gender related issues etc. However nothing or nobody can take away your drive and determination; that is something that you own and despite what's happening around you.

Understandably there are factors beyond our control that can affect our chosen goal/career path, set-backs can occur at anytime but instead of giving up re-vamp your plan, re-stratergise and then implement. For every problem, there is a solution just like for every action there's a reaction.

As we are about to enter the 2nd quarter of the year use this period to revise your original plan, sometimes a problem shared is a problem half solved speak to an colleague friend, or someone you look up to for some advice. They may shed light on something that you never thought of.

Use the internet, do some research on alternatives there is nothing wrong with having a back-up plan it actually equips you more for the journey ahead... Knowledge is power!

All in all guys, The motto for this story is...

The sky is NOT you'r limit DON'T limit yourself to the sky
when there are footprints on the moon!

Business Branding - Your Brand, YOUR Image!

For any company small, medium, or large; Branding is very important. It is actually more important than the product or service that your selling. If people don't 'buy' into your brand then they won't engage in your services.

Imagery is very important it captures ones' attention and if done right can leave a lasting memory so when it's spotted again, you have successfully achieved one aspect of branding and that's called Brand Recognition.

The thing is, the more your brand is publicised, the more recognisable it will be. Being publicised doesn't mean any media opportunity that comes your way, you should take advantage of it. It has to be strategic and of relevance to your industry, product and/or service. This validates your authenticity as a brand and gives your consumers the confidence to do business with you.

How do people 'buy' into my brand?

The term 'buy' really means; Do people believe in your business? your expertise? Do they feel the services/product you provide is value for money? Value for money doesn't just stand for the price you pay but also for  the quality of the service/product your selling.

How do you represent your empire’s ambitions in a few words and a logo?  Here are few tips on how to create your own brand

Core values and aims

This is a difficult problem to begin with, but the first step is to think about what your business wants to achieve, and how it wants to achieve it. If you have created a business plan already, this will help.

Think laterally. Understand your market and unique selling points, this can help inform your brand, for example if you are providing finance for small businesses: “Flexible working capital finance
- on the best terms.” Once you’ve settled on what your business is and what it stands for, apply them to all areas of your work.

Logos

Obviously the logo is an integral part of your brand, it is the first stop for brand recognition and so needs to be memorable. You need to have a strong, balanced image that is distinctive and bold in design; a crisp look, no clutter. If your logo has graphic imagery it must look appropriate for your business i.e. communicates what you do and works well with your company name. The logo should work in colour or monochrome.

Consult a professional

So you have an idea about what you want your branding to look like, but unless you’re a designer yourself you should seek help. A one-off logo design won’t cost you much at all, and even a lengthier branding discussion with an expert is a worthwhile investment.

Getting your visual identity spot-on is vital. Working with a professional will allow you to keep control but also allow you to concentrate on running your business as well. Using a professional is particularly useful when producing branding for all different areas of your brand (see next point.)

Universal brand coverage

Your branding must be uniform across every area of your business, it has to be consistent. From your Google adwords advert campaigns to your social media pages like Twitter and Facebook, your colour schemes, message and logo must be the same. Your company blog should keep a similar tone to your business, the objective of your brand is to be recognised regardless of the various mediums i.e Social Network, Print Advertising etc.

Consult your colleagues

It is always worth consulting your other work colleagues or an outside party; they can give a fresh approach and un-biased opinion to what your business stands for. This is also good for team morale; including your employees in the decision making process gives them a greater investment in the business and will nurture stronger team unity.

Working from home? Top 10 Tips for Women.

Through our search for many inspirational teachings abut work life ethnic we came across a fantastic writer called Linda Coles.

Linda Coles is the author of “Learn marketing with social media in 7 days” and is also a speaker and trainer on building relationships based in New Zealand. What gave us that "WOW" factor about this article is that the fact that nothing she's written here is impractical. These are points that women can really relate to, to ensure that we maintain the work-life balance we crave working away from home whilst being at home (if you get what we mean lol!)

“A woman’s work is never done” anon

Working from home as a woman certainly has it’s benefits, but it also has a few drawbacks which can easily make your productivity a hit or a miss depending on how you set yourself up and if you adhere to the unspoken rules.

Whether you work from your home office normally or if you find yourself working there for a temporary spell due to a change in location for instance, there are a few simple areas to watch out for to keep yourself on the straight and narrow, and not spend work time on laundry and getting dinner started!

You have the choice to dress “grunge” or “great”. Looking great will make you feel great and help keep your mind focused on your work ahead.

Adding to what Linda has said it's all to do with physiology, If you look you look good you feel good and that confidence will project through your tone when speaking to your clients and peers. However if you dress grudge because you feel as though your at home and in your comfort zone, it is easy to lose focus on the tasks ahead and you'll find you haven't achieved much for the day.

No one is saying prance around your home in six inch heels or a 4 piece suit with the matching tie and pocket square but look presentable as if it was "dress down friday" at the office.

Organise your appointments out of your office at a coffee shop or go for a walking coffee appointment with take-a-way cups and tick some exercise off at the same time.

Adding to what Linda said some fresh air always does a world of good, so holding meetings in coffee shops, restaurants are always good because its a nice neutral ground. If your meetings are some what local try walking there! Not the kind of distance that would work up a sweat. but a brisk walk will freshen your mind and allow you to go over the agenda for your meeting

Create a mastermind group with others in your local area that you can meet with monthly to bounce ideas around and brainstorm business issues.

Yes! There is no marketing tool more powerful than the word of mouth! Networking is the best way to grow your business, share ideas on what is working for you, and what's not. This way every month you have some new ideas to work with, and even create a new venture.

Have the TV on in another room for low background chatter to keep you company, but never sit and watch it unless you are having lunch.

Add a plant or flowers to your desk, which you might think sounds dumb, but I think it helps with any feeling of isolation.

Never open an email after 7pm or at the weekend. You can’t do much about the content anyway out of business hours so it’s not worth losing sleep over.

We totally agree with this point! There has to be visible lines between your work and your personal life, there should be no grey areas here because evidently one side will suffer. As Linda rightfully pointed out; there is nothing you can do about an email outside business hours, so shut down all work communication workstations and devices at 7am and enjoy your evening or weekend as the case maybe. Return to work the next day feeling fresh, and revitalised ready for the new tasks of the day.

Exercise each morning before you start. You have plenty of time to go for your run, shower, eat breakfast and still be back at your desk for 9am if you are not travelling.

If you have the feeling of overwhelm and heaps of domestic chores to do, allot time before you start your day or allow yourself to finish at 4.30pm occasionally. A cluttered and overstretched mind is not a productive one.

Don’t try and work from the kitchen table, find an area or room that you can call your own and pull the door on at night when you have finished.

And one last thing, NEVER, EVER wear your slippers!

Working from your home office may make you even more productive than being in a busy office  with other distractions going on around you. I know I can’t hear myself think never mind write when I use the office in town, and so although it can be quiet in my home office, it suits my workload better.

What tips do you have working from your home office? Are you strict with yourself and domestic chores? What are your experiences?

Share them with us and we will follow them up on a sequel post

HAPPY NEW YEAR... NEW GOALS.. NEW YOU!

HAPPY NEW YEAR... NEW GOALS.. NEW YOU!

Happy New Year to you all from Transquisite Consulting, It's that time of year we make new year resolutions about hitting the gym, giving up that thing we tried to give up in 2012 and also the time of year we decide to make drastic career changes.

The New Year is always the best time to put your goals into perspective but the best way to achieve them is to set realistic goals and also set a realistic time frame. Here are some guidelines to assist you for 2013

Mediate:  This is essential to your personal growth, go to an area where is peaceful, an area where you can listen to that inner voice and really decide what it is you want to do. Reflect on where you've been, the highs and the lows and the lessons you have learnt. Reflect where you are in your career, are you currently happy? Is there anything your unhappy with and if so what are your options to resolve it? and lastly ask yourself, where you do you aspire to be? and what are the steps you need to take to achieve it.

Investigate: List your aspirations and your points of reference whether it means investigating the module of a new course, registering with an agency that specialises in your desired path, or doing some online investigation. From doing this, your findings should have aided your decision to take your career in your new direction or engineer a different path.

Execute: DO NOT be a victim of procrastination, don't leave what can be done today until tomorrow. If you have a dream, pursue it; never allow society or friends tell you that you cannot succeed. Even if it takes you longer than anticipated, note that Rome wasn't built in a day, but today it stands as a city of beauty, fashion, and culture spanning over hundreds of years. Follow your destiny and all shall fall into place with determination, resilience, and perseverance.

So let's recap -

M.I.E. = Meditate. Investigate, and Execute

Managing Director of Transquisite Consulting Jennifer Oyelade features in 'This Day' Sunday Newspaper 30th December 2012

On the 30th December 2012, Jennifer Oyelade featured in This Day Newspaper, one of Nigeria's distinguished National Newspapers.

Born and bred in London, the United Kingdom, Mrs. Jennifer Oyelade, who is originally from Onitsha, Anambra State, is a young woman who is making a difference. With the belief that to be at one’s happiest, one needs to do something one enjoys, Oyelade, who is the Managing Director of Transquisite Consulting, a Recruitment, Training and Business Consultancy, tells OLAOLU OLUSINA the driving force behind her career path, her motivation for returning home and the difference she intends to make, among other things. Excerpts

Can you give us a brief introduction of yourself and what you do?

Originally from Onitsha, but born and bred in London, United Kingdom I am the Managing Director of a Recruitment, Training and Business Consultancy called Transquisite Consulting.

Transquisite Consulting is a Business and Recruitment Consultancy that provides three core services. To provide a comprehensive Recruitment Service focusing on identifying specialists locally and also in the diaspora, assisting start-ups and SME Business in maximising their presence in their industries, generate revenue and guarantee their Return in Investment.

Thirdly we are a Training Establishment offering generalist and specialist courses in personal development and Industry related modules.

What would you consider as the driving force behind your career path?

My career reflects my character, I am a people person, and like interacting with people from all cultures, and backgrounds because you learn so much and it makes you a rounded individual. I strongly believe that to be at your happiest, you need to do something you enjoy, so work doesn't feel like a chore, or a means to an end but a passion. I wanted to get into an industry that sees the growth of an individual which also results into the growth of businesses because people make businesses successful

What informed your decision to return back home and how are you coping with the challenges here?

Living in the diaspora all my life, I never considered it as home because I am a Nigerian first and foremost; those values were instilled in me right from birth. So as a child I regularly visited Nigeria and took a keen interest in its' development. Nigeria is a country that has great potential to compete with the rest of the world. Not only with our natural resources, but with the intellectual minds that this country is blessed with. If given a platform, these individuals can create a massive impact on the re-vamp of Nigeria and I aim to be a part of that.
Like every situation in life that one finds themselves in, the best thing is to adapt. There will always be challenges, but if you try to keep a positive mind that you will overcome them and turn that challenge into a personal goal it makes overcoming them so much easier. It's not easy, but then if everything in life is easy we'd all be doing something else.

What are you doing differently and what experience are you bringing to bear on the new task here?

There are many things I do and hope to do differently depending on which context this question is asked. In Business, Transquisites' objective is to bring something different to the Recruitment, Training and Management Consulting industry. Offering a comprehensive service where we understand the needs of our clients by building professional relationships. We listen, and not hear because there's a difference. Listening means we understand your needs, and aim to adhere to them.
We consult which means we advise what we feel as specialists would be good for the growth of your business and source candidates that we feel will be best suited to do the job.
We are a team that is mixed with those from the diaspora and also home grown talent so working together we are able to implement the processes that work in the diaspora and incorporate them into the Nigerian system effectively.
In regards to Training, we offer the unemployed a platform to acquire additional skills to make them more attractive to employers. Businesses can also benefit from our industry tailored courses taught by our Trainers in the diaspora, this reduces the cost of sending their employees abroad and still receiving an internationally recognised qualification.
We are also big believers of Entrepreneurship and offer courses to those who which to start up their own SME. Developing SME's is the way forward, there are so many talented individuals who have a lot to offer but do not have a platform to stand on. Organisations of this size are closer to their consumers. They can easily identify what is in demand and supply; you'll find that these type of businesses break-even very quickly because they are investing in a clear case of supply and demand.

Could you share with us some of your most challenging experience so far and how have they influenced your decision to forge ahead?

I have had many challenges but one of the major challenges was the transition from one environment to another. Visiting Nigeria for a few weeks is one thing but actually deciding to include Nigeria as a base is another? There is so much to adapt to and also leaving a city that things are actually mapped out for you to a city where you have to create a system that works for you is tough. But it didn't deter my decision to forge ahead it only gives me the drive to want to make Nigeria a more desirable place to reside in any way that I can.

What would you regard as the high point of your professional career?

Venturing into Transquisite in itself the high point of my career till date. This was a huge step for me; Working for global Organisations like Hays, Geneva Health, Robert Half, Medacs amongst others are brands that already have a global presence in the market. Candidates and clients are more responsive to you because of this and you also have unlimited access to resources provided by the company to make the job a lot easier.
To step out of my comfort zone and venture out alone to build a name for myself and my business knowing that your building a team that share the same objectives as you is very rewarding.

What would you say to young Nigerians still in the diaspora about the situation at home?

There is so much opportunity in Nigeria it’s unbelievable, there's a lot of work to be done but together we can make a difference. The expertise one has learned in the diaspora can be implemented here in Nigeria whether it’s through government channels or setting up businesses that can help in the growth of Nigeria's economy making Nigeria not only a desirable place to live but to also attract the attention of investors and international businesses to set up offices and mass production facilities. If all these things work in sync there's a chance Nigeria can eradicate the stigma its' created in the Western World and also relive the nation from world debt.
Look at Kenya; one of the areas that generate a large portion of the country's income is Tourism, they've used their natural habitat and the animals that reside there to create one of Africa's most visited countries

Sierra Leone and Ghana, once known as the Gold Coast are known for their gold, and precious stones. In my opinion there is no reason why Nigerians in the diaspora cannot come home and do the same, using what we have, to produce products and services that will not just grow our economy but rectify the never-ending problem of unemployment that our nation faces.

However I also believe that the government need to entice those in the diaspora to come home and add value. This will convince those in the Diaspora that Nigeria is ready to invest in change.

Do you have any other information, views or opinion you want to pass across?

Transquisites' overall objective is to aid businesses, non-profit organisations, and government assemblies turn the natural resources of Nigeria into profitable entities that will generate revenue for the country.

Re-vamp core industries such as Healthcare, making Nigeria more desirable to live in. Healthcare is a major issue in Nigeria, with a large amount of causalities and fatales due to malpractice and carelessness. Most Nigerians given the opportunity go to other countries such as America, UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia, India, etc. to be treated or in womens' cases to give birth. The sad thing is that the majority of the medical professionals practising in the diaspora are Nigerians especially in the UK and America. So why can't we entice these professionals to bring their expertise back home?

As a nation Nigeria needs to open their eyes to the rest of the world and implement strategic plans that benefit the people of Nigeria and not just favour the wealthy. Tourism is something that Nigeria can benefit from, it’s a beautiful country with so much greenery and history and developed further can pull in tourists from all over the world. Tourism is an industry that can immediately result in job creation. It’s not good enough that it’s just Calabar that has been developed; Lagos has also come a very long way under excellent government of His Excellency Babatunde Fashola. If every state invests in creating attractions as a country, Nigeria as a whole has the potential to be one of Africa’s most visited destinations; If Kenya and South Africa can do it why can’t we.
Education is another issue that Nigeria faces, the system only works for the middle class and the wealthy. The less fortunate do not have the privilege of education. This is where the government should offer free education, or training. Because our children are tomorrow’s future and they shouldn’t be segregated because of their household’s income.
